About Us
Who We Are
Sweet Comfort Creamery is a family-owned business started by Renee Williams, her husband Ismael, and her nephew, Justin, in 2021. During the pandemic and after suffering several devastating family losses, Renee decided she needed something new and different but that grounded her in the love of her family and friends. Although a practicing lawyer, Renee always had a desire in her heart to open an ice cream shop. This idea sprang from her absolute love of all things ice cream developed while sitting in the kitchen with her mother as a child as her mom churned out of this world homemade vanilla ice cream on her old-fashioned crank machine. Renee was fascinated with how her mom meticulously measured out the ingredients that created a custard base that turned into the tastiest, most comforting, and happiness inducing treat. Ice cream, family, and friends were the happy place for Renee, her parents, siblings, and nieces and nephews. When her mom wasn't making ice cream at home, the family was sure to hit up the local frozen custard drive-in for Sunday dessert.
Sweet Comfort Creamery is inspired by Renee's mother (Nather Lee) whose unconditional love, understanding, kindness and, of course, delicious ice cream always served as a source of comfort for her, her siblings, and the rest of her family. Renee couldn't think of a better partner for this ice cream venture with her husband than her best friend and nephew, Justin who have had an inseparable aunt and nephew bond since Justin's birth. Renee and Justin wanted to keep Sweet Comfort Creamery local in Inglewood where the family lived for many years and developed the fondest memories. Sweet Comfort Creamery is intended to be a local sit-down ice cream shop where friends, family, and the community can gather to enjoy a scoop, shake, or ice cream sandwich to be transported to their own places of sweetest comfort.
Our Flavors
Our flavors range from the old school "OGs" that have withstood the test of time to the new school with exciting creations and mix-ins. We focus on good, quality, all natural ingredients by that create classic and irresistible scoops of vanilla, butter pecan, rocky road, pistachio, strawberry cheesecake and cookies and cream. We also have plenty of seasonal, vegan, and creative offerings to please even the pickiest ice cream connoisseur!
